MEET KRISTA

MEET KRISTA

Growing up I was enrolled in all the team sports, I pretty much gave everything a try. Unfortunately at the age of 16 I had a serious knee injury which  dramatically shifted my path. After a long recovery I started yoga which became my main focus for several years until I slowly re-introduced running into my life. I became quite dedicated to running and loved the cardio aspect of the sport but missed being part of a team. When I first learned the team oriented nature of cycling I was intrigued. I signed up for a winter womens bike camp and after my first group ride I returned home soaked, covered in mud and totally satisfied. Since then I have been hooked.

What inspires & motivates you

I am constantly amazed by what the human body is capable of when one puts their mind to something. I love following a program, pushing myself and achieving my goals. I am constantly inspired and in awe of what the women in our cycling community are capable of.

What events are you planning to participate in this year? Or which events are you excited about?

I am looking forward to a change in pace and terrain. Having spent a number of years focused on road racing I am looking forward to more space for off-road grassroots events.

I am really excited to participate in the Merritt Crown, an endurance mountain bike event. Last year the event was cancelled and myself and a few friends did our own version in Squamish. It was a summer highlight last year so I am looking forward to the real deal this year.

Anything else you want to share?

I am honored to ride alongside the women on this team. Each one of these women offers something unique to our cycling community and I can’t wait to see what we create together.
